O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ship has weathered every rack, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

the prize we sought is won, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The port is near, the bells I hear, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

the people all exulting, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While follow eyes the steady keel, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

the vessel grim and daring; <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But O heart! heart! heart! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

O the bleeding drops of red, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where on the deck my Captain lies, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fallen cold and dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rise up–for you the flag is flung–<\/p>\n\n\n\n

for you the bugle trills, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For you bouquets and ribboned wreaths–<\/p>\n\n\n\n

for you the shores accrowding, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For you they call, the swaying mass, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

their eager faces turning; <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here Captain! dear father! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This arm beneath your head! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is some dream that on the deck <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You’ve fallen cold and dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My Captain does not answer, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

his lips are pale and still, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My father does not feel my arm, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

he has no pulse nor will, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ship is anchored safe and sound, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

its voyage closed and done, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won; <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exult O shores, and ring O bells! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I, with mournful tread, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walk the deck my Captain lies, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
